About Natural Spaces Photography

While Dave first picked up a camera in Junior High School over 30 years ago, he finally combined nature photography with his love of the outdoors in 2002. His passion for making images has also been combined with a love of backpacking, canoeing, biking and camping. While he has explored nature in different parts of the United States and Canada, his favorite images come from his geographic backyard - the north woods and Upper Great Lakes region. Dave has won numerous awards for his images.

In 2004, Dave moved from traditional film-based photography to digital capture of images. Most of the images in the online gallery are digital capture. In many professional photographer's opinions, today's professional digital cameras meet, and in many cases, exceed the overall image quality of film. That, combined with the power of the "digital darkroom," offer images of amazing quality and clarity.

Although Dave uses digital capture and editing, please know that post-capture enhancements to Dave's images are kept to a bare minimum. Outside of basic cropping and slight color adjustments, Dave relies on the camera and his expertise as a photographic artist to make the images you see in the online gallery.
